Volker E.
Landscape Photographer & Avid Flyfisher
While pursuing my passion and profession as a fly fishing guide and instructor, I have fished countless streams, rivers and oceans on 3 continents. However, it was my pursuit of the “poisson” as a vocation, where I savored scenery and wilderness from the rugged terrain of Patagonia to the pastoral countryside of New Zealand, that ultimately led me to my avocation as a photographer of the wilderness that I have explored for the past 30 years.
A lifelong student of photography, in my early teens I was actively involved in the developing and printing of my early work in the basement of my parent’s home. I went from the era of film to the digital age chronicling the landscapes that I pursued with rod and fly.
The decision to produce black and white images is in part due to my fascination and appreciation of the work of the late Ansel Adams and his contemporaries of the black and white genre. The images showcase the subtlety of scenes without the distraction of color.
My objective is to produce rich, yet stark, photographs resulting in a luster and texture that add a detailed dimension to my images.
I have spent many years capturing these memories and I look forward to sharing them with you. I hope you find as much peace and solace as I have in these images.
Cheers,
Volker E.
